Welcome to Digital Photography Bootcamp!

Welcome to Camp! We're looking forward to spending the next three days with you, exploring and learning more about digital photography in this great setting. We will use this weblog as a place to post resources, interesting links, and to share thoughts and observations.

And now is the chance to get started! Please click on the Comments tab at the bottom right corner of this posting, and take just a minute to introduce yourself, where you teach or work, and describe what you are hoping to learn while you are here at camp.

Thanks
Conn

Hi, I am Brenda--I teach 4th grade in Eugene, OR at an alternative school. I teach computers and have kids import pictures and create stories with them. I have limited knowledge about digital photography--I have been using a digital camera for about 4 years--but don't know what a lot of the settings are for. I get lost in the menus of my camera! I am comfortable uploading pictures into iPhoto and showing a slide show, but again, I don't know much more than that--how to manipulate photos, or improve them.

My name is Linda Azure and I work for a small independent school in Seattle called Hamlin Robinson School. Our school serves students with dyslexia and related language disabilities. I am a speech/language pathologist. I like to use photos to encourage my students to share their life stories both verbally and in writing.

I have had an interest in photography for a long time, but only recently went digital. With four children, I take many pictures of family and special events.

I don't have alot of time to sit down and really learn my camera settings, computer software, and programming. My hope in this class is to spend concentrated time learning the basics to at least make the process more familiar.

Hi, my name is Jocelyn, I have always wanted to take beautiful and intriguing pictures. I teach 3rd grade and Spanish literacy at a high poverty school in Wenatchee, WA. I want to get my students involved with photography and its technology as a way for them to look at things from a new perspective.
I have a 2.5 year old daughter and a 4.5 year old son (who is doing his first ball camp today!) a very flexible husband and a saint for a mother who is taking care of all three of them this week. It's nice to meet you. =-)

Hi, I am Ann I teach 5th grade in the Highline School District. Photography is a wonderfully creative and safe way to do art and other projects. I hope to learn more quickly how to use the functions on the camera and Photoshop etc. My goal is to be a step or two ahead of the students so that they can take pictures of their "quality" projects etc. and share with their family and friends.
